How do I convert video files?
Follow this workflow to convert video files.
Before you start
Prepare source files, a separate destination, and the required output format.
Where to find it
Tools > Video Converter.
Steps
- Choose Add Files or Add Folder.
- Select the output folder.
- Choose Basic output format or Advanced video/audio options.
- Set edits if needed.
- Review Overwrite existing files.
- Choose Start.
- Use Cancel Current or Cancel All to stop queued work.
Check the result
Open a completed converted copy and check picture, audio, duration, and edits.
Helpful information
Source resolution keeps the original size. Copy streams avoids re-encoding when compatible; other changes may require encoding. Quality/bitrate trade file size for picture quality. Faststart helps web playback. Deinterlace handles interlaced footage. Trim accepts seconds or hh:mm:ss. Extract frame saves a still at the requested time. Subtitle Burn draws text into video; Copy keeps a supported subtitle stream. Changes produce output files; original input files are unchanged unless an output overwrite targets them.
If something is wrong
Review destination, compatible encoding settings, and conversion status. Cancel Current or Cancel All stops queued work.
