How do I assign a keyboard shortcut or controller action?

Follow this workflow to assign a keyboard shortcut or controller action.

Before you start

Choose the action and check the key is suitable for the focused editing context.

Where to find it

File > Shortcuts.

Steps

  1. Search for the command.
  2. Select an unassigned command or choose Add Shortcut.
  3. Choose Input device and capture its control.
  4. Select Trigger.
  5. Choose Category and command.
  6. Choose Save in and any target/value.
  7. Keep Shortcut enabled on.
  8. Choose Save Shortcut.

Test the assignment on a safe scene before the live show.

Helpful information

Application assignments remain across collections; collection assignments apply only in that collection and take priority over matching application controls. Assigned/Unassigned/Needs Attention help review status. Import, Export, Duplicate, Remove, and Restore Defaults manage assignments. Templates previews Default Keyboard, Motion Template Designer, Replay Controller, and Audio Controller layouts before Apply. Applying preserves existing assignments. Changes save as actions succeed.
