How do I trim a video without changing the original?

Follow this workflow to trim a video without changing the original.

Before you start

Choose the source video and identify the range you want to keep.

Where to find it

Video Source properties > local preview and VIDEO TIMELINE.

Steps

  1. Choose the local File Path.
  2. Seek the preview to the beginning and choose Mark In, or drag the In handle.
  3. Seek to the end and choose Mark Out, or drag the Out handle.
  4. Enable Play only marked area to limit source playback to this range.
  5. Choose Full Range to restore the full-file marks when needed.
  6. Save the source settings.

Check the result

Play the selected range and inspect the new copy when exporting it.
