Getting started with MCast Studio

A source supplies picture, sound, or text. A scene combines sources into a shot. A collection holds the show. A layout gives it a canvas size and render settings. Preview is the picture you prepare; Program is the picture a Program output receives.

Set up your first workspace

  1. Open MCast Studio.
  2. Complete Sign in with Google if prompted.
  3. Review and grant the required operating-system permissions if prompted.
  4. In Setup, choose the default layout and its width/height.
  5. Choose UI language.
  6. Choose Save.

The workspace opens with the selected setup. A language change can reopen MCast. If Windows offers a camera repair prompt, choose Yes only when you want that preparation; declining allows workspace setup to continue.

Prepare a simple presentation

  1. Create/select the intended collection from Collection.
  2. Open a layout from Layouts.
  3. Add a scene in Scenes.
  4. Add a camera source in Sources and select its device.
  5. Add an image or screen-capture source for presentation material.
  6. Select each visual source and arrange it in Preview.
  7. Open Audio Mixer and check the microphone meter, volume, mute, and routing.
  8. Create a second scene for a closing screen.
  9. Select the next scene in Preview.
  10. Choose Transition when it is ready for Program.

You should see the intended picture in Program and the next prepared shot in Preview.

Make a local recording

  1. Open the layout Output > Recording Output Profile.
  2. Create a recording output and choose its feed, folder, format, and compatible profiles.
  3. Assign Master in its Audio Track tab.
  4. Save the profile.
  5. Attach it through Output > Destinations > Recording Destination.
  6. Start Recording from the output control.
  7. Review any validation message before continuing.
  8. Stop after a short sample.
  9. Open the saved recording and check its picture and sound.

If something is missing

If a device is absent, refresh the device list and check permissions. If media is missing, choose Collection > Check for Missing Files and Apply replacements. If a feature is unavailable, review Help > License and the relevant settings. If the picture is missing from output, check that the destination is attached to the intended layout and that its feed/target is valid.
