Input balance, channel layout, and sync offset

Adjust an audio input before it is sent to Master, buses, and monitors.

Before you start

Open the collection and layout you intend to use. Prepare the devices, storage, or receiving service required by this workflow.

Where to find it

Audio Mixer input > Audio Input Properties.

Set it up

  1. Open properties for the intended mixer input.
  2. Use Channel layout to choose the supported input layout.
  3. Adjust Input balance if needed.
  4. Set Sync offset in milliseconds when sound arrives before the picture.
  5. Review Master/bus routing and the per-monitor controls.
  6. Choose Save.

Balance

Center keeps both left and right at full level. Moving left or right reduces the opposite channel. Double-click the input balance slider to center it. This input balance is applied before Master, bus, and monitor sends.

Sync and monitoring

Sync offset delays this input’s sound before routing. Monitoring has its own send balance, level meter, volume, mute, and solo per monitor output. Check the actual output while adjusting sync; monitoring sound alone may not represent the recording route.

Rename changes the displayed input name. Source Properties opens the capture/media input configuration. Filters opens its audio effect chain.
