Audio mixer and input properties

Set the level, mute, balance, channel layout, and timing of audio inputs. Route them to the final mix and other buses.

Before you start

Select the intended collection or item before changing its settings.

Where to find it

Audio Mixer dock.

Use it

  1. Open Audio Mixer.
  2. Play sound or speak into the input.
  3. Adjust its volume fader while watching the level meter.
  4. Set mute and Master/bus routing.
  5. Open Properties for channel layout, balance, and sync offset.
  6. Save properties.

Controls and additional tasks

The fader runs from silence to 0 dB. Positive gain is available through an audio Gain filter. Balance reduces the opposite channel; double-click to center. Mono combines channels; Stereo preserves them. Sync offset delays the input before routing. Monitoring is the sound sent to an operator listening device. Hiding a mixer strip does not mute it. Lock Volume protects the fader. Mixer options show hidden/inactive inputs, move them right, or change horizontal layout.

If something is wrong

If meters move but the output is silent, check mute, bus routing, and the output track assignment. If monitoring echoes, avoid sending captured playback back to the same device.
