Upward Compressor
Raises quiet audio below the threshold while preserving louder sections.
Before you start
Select the intended collection or item before changing its settings.
Where to find it
Audio Mixer input menu > Filters > Add MCast Filter.
Use it
- Open the selected input/source Filters.
- Choose the appropriate Add action.
- Select Upward Compressor.
- Adjust the settings below.
- Compare enabled and bypassed results.
- Close the filter editor when finished.
Controls and additional tasks
Filter order changes the combined result. Bypass keeps settings without applying the effect; Delete removes it. Reset restores defaults.
Effect settings
| Setting | Use and limits |
|---|---|
| Ratio | Amount of compression/expansion applied relative to the threshold. Default: 0.5; Range: 0.01–1.0. |
| Threshold | Level where this processor begins changing the signal. Default: -20; Range: -96.0–0.0. |
| Attack | Time taken for processing to respond to a level change. Default: 10; Range: 1.0–500.0. |
| Release | Time taken for processing to return after the level falls. Default: 50; Range: 1.0–1000.0. |
| Output Gain | Increase/decrease the processed audio level. Default: 0; Range: -32.0–32.0. |
| Knee Width | Adjust knee width; compare the effect in the preview or audio meter. Default: 10; Range: 0.0–20.0. |
If something is wrong
If the result is unexpected, bypass the filter and then enable it with defaults.
Stop or remove
Bypass the effect to retain settings. Select it and choose Delete to remove it.
