How do I start an external output?

Follow this workflow to start an external output.

Before you start

Prepare the receiving display, network receiver, or supported hardware. Obtain its required format and connection details.

Where to find it

Layout Output > External Output Profile.

Steps

  1. Open the intended layout’s Output > External Output Profile > New.
  2. Enter External Output Name and choose Output Type for the receiver.
  3. Choose Output Feed and select its target when needed.
  4. Fill in Output Type Settings for that receiver. Use only the fields shown for the chosen type.
  5. Choose compatible render settings and assign the required sound under Audio Track.
  6. Choose Save, then attach through External Destination.
  7. Start the attached output and verify picture and sound at the receiver.
  8. Use Stop when finished. Detaching the destination is a separate action.

Check the result

Confirm the output is running and check the actual receiver for both picture and sound. A discovered device is not proof of successful delivery.

Helpful information

Output Type chooses the delivery method. Output Feed chooses the picture. Virtual Cameras have their own dock and do not require an External Output Profile.

If something is wrong

For a blank receiver, check Output Type, selected feed, target device/display or address/ports, compatible format, and audio assignment.
